Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are planning their wedding on July 3, with the reception set to take place at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The two announced their engagement in August 2025 in a joint Instagram post. The timing was reportedly chosen to ensure the wedding takes place before Kelce’s NFL training camp begins on July 22.
The couple is said to want a private ceremony separate from the main public reception at MSG. Neither Swift nor Kelce has confirmed any details publicly.

The NYPD is already in the loop
Variety spoke to two NYPD officers patrolling the area around Madison Square Garden on June 24. Both confirmed they have been briefed about a potential influx of Taylor Swift fans, paparazzi, and onlookers on July 3. They said it has become a running topic of conversation and amusement among colleagues.
The area around MSG is already one of the busiest in Manhattan. It sits directly adjacent to Penn Station, one of the city’s main transportation hubs. June alone brought championship Knicks games and a wave of World Cup commuters passing through the corridor.
What the guest list looks like
According to sources with direct knowledge who spoke to TMZ, between 1,100 and 1,200 people are expected to attend the event at MSG on July 3. Invitations were reportedly communicated via text rather than physical invites, as part of efforts to keep details private. Security plans reportedly involve both the NYPD and private companies, and street closures around MSG are expected on the day.
Why MSG makes sense
A New York City permit filing has added weight to the MSG speculation. A spokesperson for the Mayor’s Office confirmed that a permit was filed in early June with the city’s Street Activity Permit Office, and that street closures around the venue are planned for July 2 to 4.
A source at MSG told NBC News that the venue has blocked off July 2 to 4 and is making preparations for a large event, though declined to be named given the confidential nature of the matter.
The venue has practical advantages for an event of this scale. It has no windows from which photographers can shoot. And, it has underground parking allowing guests to arrive and leave without exposure to crowds outside. It can also accommodate live musical performances.
New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani referenced Swift’s wedding directly during a press conference about the city’s ability to handle major summer events, listing it alongside the Knicks Finals run, July 4, and America 250 celebrations.
What Travis Kelce said
San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle told Entertainment Tonight on June 23 that he asked Kelce directly about the MSG rumour. Kelce’s response, according to Kittle, was simply to laugh. Kittle added that even wedding guests reportedly have not been told the full details of the event.
Whether MSG is the real venue or an elaborate misdirect remains unconfirmed. July 3 is one week away.
